VoiceDeRadio wants you! We're are currently preparing ourselves for a massive launch, but we're missing something we're missing staff, you could be the next big internet radio DJ.

We're currently looking for many people to fill many positions, we require:

Programming Director
Programming Assistant
Station Manger
Chairman of VoiceDeMedia
Radio DJ's

All positons are open to everyone, DJ's can either be pre-recorded or live all we ask is you bring us high quality content. Programming Director & Assistant will be in charge of all scheduling and music that hits the airwaves, we will give you access to our program with all the music. Station manger requires experience in internet radio, you could be a DJ wanting a bit more or a station manger looking for work.

What country / region are you in and what is the station format? if its a "all round" format you might want to state this and also if you allow or encourage EDM/dance DJ's with their different styles to a daytime "zoo format" presenter. The way people listen to Internet radio is different from Band II FM local or community stations and you need something unique or specialised, as unless you are really into tech its still a bit more effort to "tune in".

And if you are British - you can't say you are "hiring" unless you are paying these staff (which given the state of the industry today is unlikely). You can of course ask for volunteers, which is why this sub forum has this name. I'm not even sure if you can do that in other countries TBH but its definitely not on here and a sore point here in Blighty.

Of course if a venture takes off and makes money volunteers can be hired as paid staff, but if anything the industry has gone the other direction, people are moving from paid positions in media / creative industrys to unpaid volunteers whilst taking day jobs in other fields, such as what happens with our local community radio station in Ipswich, Suffolk.

I know that cultural influences imported from the dot com days mean people especially make this mistake thinking that a volunteer position is a "real job", or are overoptimistic as to whether it leads to a paid position. (a fledgling local TV station in my old city did just that, it was an utter disaster for all involved).

Be aware though that bodies like the EBU are increasingly taking online broadcasting seriously (and reporting back to public broadcasters, Ofcom etc), and there already is a lot of concern over unpaid staff being strung along with the idea they might get paid and this is in the established companies!

Best to be upfront about your resourcing levels rather than risk trouble down the line just due to some wording. here's a link to a blog (not a lot there as I have to fit it in with my paying day job in IT) which explains my background and what happened to the industry in the 90s so you can see where I am coming from.

BTW you've used the term "station manger". its good you are thinking of eating facilities (keep food and drink out of the studio, so it is not spilled into your console, that isn't good for it and rank for the techies to have to deal with) I would hope the table manners of your volunteers are better than that which would require such a feeding arrangement :rofl:
