Switching Between Auto DJ and Livestream

Apologies if this has been asked before.

Is there a way to switch between auto dj and my shoutcast livestream without interrupting the output?

I've tried using the fallback file to cover the transition but it isn't playing.

Any advice would bwe much appreciated.

Hi Green Bear,

With Shoutcast servers as you are most likely aware, an AutoDJ stream would need to be manually disabled in order for a live stream to connect. To prevent any interruptions you would just have to get your timing right so that you disable it at the end of a track / playlist and connect your live stream encoder straight away. There will still be a gap, but it shouldn't be too long!

What is your account name with us so we can take a look at your fallback file? Its important that this file is at the correct bitrate / sample rate and number of channels as configured for your stream in order for this to work correctly.
 
I don't want to come across as a bad guy here, I'm just giving feedback. I see this as a major selling point for stations. It's actually the reason I went with another stream host rather than you guys. It was actually the only reason.

No not at all, its a fair point! :)

The reason that we have not switched over to Shoutcast v2 yet ourselves is because when we was testing it out a little while back, we found a few bugs that we would like to see ironed out before we offer this on our own servers. One particular thing was some issues with the v2 'authhash'.

For the time being, we would rather stick with v1 as we know its stable and has worked just fine for us over the years and therefore will cause no problems for our users. But we do plan to upgrade all of our control panels to CentovaCast 3 very soon and then we plan to take another look at Shoutcast v2.

In the meantime, we do still offer Icecast servers that do not require any manual stopping and starting of the AutoDJ stream .

No problem at all.

Your fallback file is in 'Joint Stereo' rather than normal 'Stereo', make this just 'Stereo'. Other than that, the bitrate and samplerate are correct. 8)
