Sweet Beatz Radio is an Online radio station based in London. The station delivers the best urban music and entertainment. We can be heard online at Sweet Beatz - London Based Pirate Style Internet Radio Broadcasting 24/7.
As an intern at Sweet Beatz radio you will be expected to be a forward thinker and interested in all aspects of the media industry. Your time at sweetbeatz can cover the following depending on whether you want to work on Radio or Online presence;
Radio Production, Broadcast, Programming and Social networking and Website
Position reports to: Radio Management
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Production:
Generating and researching ideas for programmes and developing content, writing material for scripts, bulletins and links
Sourcing potential contributors and interviewees
Selecting music appropriate to the programme, the audience and the station
Producing pre-production briefings for presenters, reporters, technical staff and other contributors
Undertaking editing, interviewing and reporting duties as necessary
managing presenters for both pre-recorded and recorded output
Checking that copyrights are cleared and that output meets legal guidelines
Contributing to and making use of an archive of audio resources which can be re-used;
converting text, graphics, video and audio files into other formats;
responding to audience feedback, referring on to other departments as necessary
Producing and making use of user-generated content, for example vox pops
Using Adobe Audition, Cool Edit pro, Protools for editing and production purposes;
preparing contracts and payments for guests and contributors;
archiving past programmes
assisting with time-keeping;
‘driving the desk’ for some pre-recorded or live programmes
liaising with publicity departments about programme trailers and competition prizes
Programming :
Scheduling content according to requirements of radio management
Ensuring that broadcasts run smoothly and that no dead air occurs during broadcast periods
Carefully plan and structure scheduling to avoid gaps which cause silence on the air
Prevent program overruns
Ensure that the content is appealing to listeners and viewers.
Determine with management what goes on the air, when it airs, and how the programming of a station will be structured
Allocate resources, determining the schedule for hosts, radio personalities, and other staff.
Monitor the timing on pre-recorded programs to ensure that it fits into the schedule,
Monitor live broadcasts to be available to jump in to deal with programs which can range from dead air caused by equipment malfunctions to unexpected profanity from a guest.
Research the demographics Sweet Beatz serve, seek out content which will appeal to their listeners, arrange for guests to be on air, and issue assignments to cover topics and stories of interest.
Online presence and Social Networking:
Manage presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and other similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed
Become an advocate of the Company in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate

Manage a Blogger outreach program
Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs, and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
Regularly feed back insights gained from social media monitoring into the Marketing and Editorial teams, to help them evolve their strategies in a timely fashion
Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications
Updating the programme or station website and ensuring that the on-air and online content are the same.
Contribute to website redesign projects in various ways
General:
To work with other members of staff as a team to ensure that the core services are covered
To work in partnership with other agencies in order to meet development needs
To work to promote equal opportunities and equality of access
To actively promote Sweet Beatz UK
General administrative duties – maintaining contact databases, recording production or programming processes, office email protocols
Understanding some aspects of media law
Essential Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
Development experience in an urban multicultural setting
At some experience at a radio station or similar/relevant media service
A proven track record in using broadcast and production technologies
The ability to negotiate with a range of agencies e.g. community groups, regeneration agencies, local authority departments
The ability to manage and prioritize workload without supervision
The ability to form good working relationships with people from a wide range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Awareness, understanding and commitment to Equal Opportunities principles and working in a culturally appropriate manner.
An ability to communicate effectively at a variety of different levels (person to person, written and online, with colleagues and the general public).
Ability to demonstrate a methodical and thorough approach to work, and ensure that deadlines are met.
Willingness to work occasional unsocial hours.
Microsoft packages, ability to compose documents and presentations
Creative ability both in vision and auditory, e.g. able to create ideas/images for online or able to make/mix music (DJ, producer etc)
Some knowledge Desiered (But Not essential):
Ability to update and add/delete tracks to playlist, adverts, etc. Vocal ability/ public speaking, voiceover, jingle and advertisement making
Greater experience of Bang content, knowledge of new music/gigs/news etc.
Greater technical knowledge of computers and associated software, website builds, music play out systems, online music resources, current marketplace, and competitors.
Joomla, basic overall knowledge of uploading etc.
