In fact FFMP3 will apparently pick up and display the metadata, but is that different to the info showing via your code snippets. For instance I have some tracks named 'artist - track title'.mp3. Via your system that shows as 'playing 'artist - track title'. would FFMP3 pick up the required info from the name of the mp3, or would I need to go and reload all my tracks again, ensuring the metadata is set up?
I suppose I could use one of your code snippets just below the player to show what is currently playing.

Yes, we are aware of other users using the code snippets underneath in this way, also the RadioTuna player that sojic mentioned looks as though it will do the job well. 8)
