Icecast and royalties

Hello,

Two questions:

1/Including a station in the Shoutcast directory is enough to make the stream public. But how to include it in the Icecast directory?

2/ I own a station that is non-commercial. I pay my service but I don't broadcast adverts and my station never generates revenues to me. Do I also have to pay royalties or what stations really pay royalties?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Jorgear,

1) Shoutcast servers cannot be listed in the Icecast directories and vice versa.

2) If you are playing copyrighted music which you do not have permission from the copyright owner then yes you should have a license.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the answers. But how to list a station in the Icecast directory? Because I had a station with Radionomy in the past and that station was listed in both directories.

Radionomy use some kind of modified version of Icecast for their servers and they also happen to own Shoutcast itself. Hence why their own stations are listed in both directories.
