Volunteer Radio Presenters
Cheshunt Radio currently has vacancies for Online Radio Presenters with or without experience in Broadcasting to join our presenter team.
Cheshunt Radio is committed to providing quality radio shows to our listening audience. So we are looking for individuals with PERSONALITY, DRIVE AND ENTHUSIASM and the ability to be able to Present a show that involves doing a fair bit of talking into a live microphone to your audience.
You will need a "Radio Personality Voice" in order to engage your listeners. This could be something you can practise at home buy listening to the current presenter styles of Commercial Radio Stations. This is quite important really as being a "DJ" is not about playing your favourite records or CD's as we use automated software so timings are very important.
Being a Presenter is about being able to host an Engaging, Informative and Entertaining show so this is an ideal opportunity for a student wishing to get into TV or Radio broadcasting or the behind the scenes on the media industry.
All Presenters will need to know their way around a computer as well as well as being able to keep to schedules set by the Programme Controller. Accurate logging and the ability to read News, and Travel updates is an essential part of presenting.
Volunteers are an essential part of community media – without their dedicated, enthusiastic voluntary teams, your local community radio stations, TV channels and film organisations would not be able to provide their service to you.
Most community radio stations are looking for volunteers to help out with all the things that go into the running of a busy, active local radio station – including programme assistants, journalists, producers, IT support, writers, interviewers and much more. From high-school students looking for work experience to retired people looking to give something back to the community, people from all walks of life get rewarding experiences from community media.
You don’t have to make a big commitment; you can volunteer as little or as much as you’d like. Whether you want to pop in for a few hours once every couple of weeks to produce a specialist feature, or join our busy core team of programme assistants and producers, our door is open to you. No prior experience of radio is required – just a willingness to learn and the enthusiasm to get stuck in!
Past volunteers with community radio stations have gone on to work with major radio companies and organisations like the BBC, Global Radio,Bauer and UKRD. But you don’t have to have ambitions in the media to get involved – all you need is the enthusiasm and drive to do something for your local community, no matter how big or small.
If you wish to apply for our Radio Presenter vacancies then send a covering letter with your CV to Mickey@CheshuntRadio.co.uk.
