BUTT crashed after installing latest Windows 10 update.

Hello all !

A few days ago I have installed the latest Windows 10 update. Everything works fine, only BUTT refuses to work now.... When starting up It says "Error : no sound device with input channels for Butt 0.1.15....
After several trials to connect, I decided to install Edcast instead of BUTT (It did not satisfy me anyhow).
Edcast is running now and I can connect to the server, but it says there is no web-player.... The songtitle and artist are displayed correctly..... Listeners complain that the music is buffering constantly - even at only 96 Kbps.... Windows Player does not work either.....

I would like to have a web-player displayed (see also previous threads)

Can someone please help me with these issues ?

Many thanks !

Noorman

Hi Noorman,

The player on the startpages is a web player. It is HTML5 so it will work with any device. Your issue here is likely related to the browser that you are using, if the player is not displaying then we suggest clearing the browsers cache and trying again or perhaps just using another web browser instead. We are personally not fans of Internet Explorer and we have come across it having issues with playback before with some older versions.

What exactly is happening with Windows Media Player? As your station is currently offline then we are unable to test your stream with it, but we just tested this with another station hosted with us and the WMP (.m3u) playlist file loaded fine?

We are not sure what the issue with BUTT could be for you? Running a Win10 PC here at the moment and this seems to be working normally? It might be worth contacting its developer to see what he say's. https://danielnoethen.de/

In regards to the buffering, the uk6 server that you are hosted on is running fine as can be seen here: https://stats.uptimerobot.com/YWm9ATkR1/778383561 We would suggest having a look over this forum thread to see if this may help with your issue: https://www.internet-radio.com/community/threads/my-radio-is-buffering-skipping.18/

If you continue to experience buffering issues then we would ask that you send us an MTR report as shown here: https://www.internet-radio.com/comm...the-mtr-tool-to-analyse-network-problems.535/

An MTR report will allows us to identify where the faults are occurring.

Hi There,

Thanks for looking into my problems !
I've spent all day to try to solve things, without any luck...

1) The web player problem stays as it is.... also in Chrome (see printscreen below).

2) Windows Media Player still does not work - only the intro jingle plays.... nothing to hear after that....
3) I'll contact BUTT to report my problem. I've un-installed BUTT completely and re-installed it. It is impossible for me to make a new configuration....
4) Buffering issue stays - i'll look into it and make an MTR report later on.
5) I am streaming at the moment, and will do so untill you had a chance to listen to my stream.
Please visit https://www.e-radio2440.com/
The Muses player only plays the intro jingle. The same for WMP. Winamp is the only link that works
(with the buffering problem). The stream also plays 'to fast'. People listening asked me if I was in a hurry.

My station is in a complete mess at the moment. I surely hope you can help me out of this....
The latest Windows 10 update was no good for me - that's for sure !

Thx again - best regards,

Noorman.

Hi Noorman,

1) Ok your issue here is that you are streaming live, yet you are connecting your live encoder software on the default "/stream" mount point it seems. When you stream live you need to connect on the "/live" mountpoint in your encoders settings as you are running an Icecast server. The player on your startpage is currently looking for the /live mount if you hover over the media player icons and look at the url in the bottom left of your web browser. That will correct that issue.
2) As above WMP is trying to load http://uk6.internet-radio.com:8004/live but if you look at your admin page http://uk6.internet-radio.com:8004/ you will see you are only streaming to the /stream mount.
3) Ok, hopefully you can resolve that issue. It sounds like some config issue with your sound card perhaps?
4) Yes please do, that will definitely help us to pin point where the issue is occurring. But we are not convinced it is that (please continue to see below).
5) Tuning into your stream we can hear the intro file play correctly and then the live stream seems fine after that when you tune in via http://uk6.internet-radio.com:8004/stream.m3u But yes when we listen to this from your own website instead we can hear the buffering and glitching after the intro file plays and then it starts playing your fallback file within a minute or two. Your intro file is your problem here! You have this encoded at 320kbps with a samplerate of 48000hz and in joint stereo. Your fallback file is exactly the same! It's the inconsistency in the bitrate / number of channels / sample rate on the file changeover that is the problem here as you are live streaming at 128kbps. You should also use the default samplerate of 44100hz. Any such inconsistency's will cause you some playback issues, particularly with Flash based players such as the Muses player.

We suggest just removing your intro/fallback files and restarting the server, that will correct that problem. And if you do upload them again make sure that they are encoded at 128kbps, in (normal) stereo and with a samplerate of 44100hz as per the same settings you use for your live stream. This is probably why you think you are having buffering issues.

Dear support,

Thank you 1000 times !!!
My stream is stable again ! The solution can only be found in the details, but I would
never have found it without your kind help.....

If there is more news about "BUTT" I'll keep you posted !

Cheers !
