We are a family friendly station playing music from the 1920s to today.

We are on the lookout for DJs and moderators for the chatroom and forum.

Applicants must be prepared to register as a member both on the forum and chat.

Minimum age for DJs is 16 although our minimum forum age is 13.

DJs must be prepared to work as part of a team and be reliable and trustworthy.

A minimum number of tracks is required (no less than 1000).

Broadcasting experience is preferred but not necessary.

Please note we do not require any DJ whom plays the following: rap, trance, garage, hip hop nor any with excessive language or racist lyrics.

How do you feel about..

...a specialist folk roots and acoustic style show?

I play a broad mix of tunes from across the spectrum from the uber-mainstream stuff such as KT Tunstall to hardcore trad such as Fay Hield to upbeat punk and rock influenced stuff such the Levellers, Oysterband and Van Morrison.

Please note we do not require any DJ whom plays the following: rap, trance, garage, hip hop nor any with excessive language or racist lyrics.

a tip to save you and potential volunteers hassle down the line - unless you do like some dance genres but are really fussy about which (I've met many folk like that ) why not just reword this as "we do not require DJ's playing any dance genres / tracks containing bad language or racism"?

otherwise you may even end up with folk saying "is dubstep/ drum and bass / a 2 hour eurodisco set OK?"

In spite of (or because!) I am a mod on a very popular dance music forum, help out with a dance station and a former rave DJ I fully understand your reasons and respect your choice totally!

The dance scene is associated with many controversial activities which are not "family friendly", folk are trying to clean it up but its not easy, there are loads of similar stations already, their shows often have a different format and production which makes it harder to put ads or longer speech based content into them (not impossible but if you don't know the dance scene it won't work and be pain to all involved!)

Coming from a professional broadcast background I still wince when I hear a (local FM) community station or even one of our dance streams transmitting a track with a bit of swearing in it before 21:00, even though I've crashed a swear filter at my old work before when posting to one of the forums I use..

As a separate project to my dance stuff I'm actually looking for programming I could get away with sending down the communal wiring in a old peoples home for rebroadcast to residents rooms and even the community station wouldn't always be suitable..

having had a quick look at your forum, if you can get the right presenters I'd even suggest (assuming you are in your 30s) you concentrate on "our parents age" and above - as there's plenty of mainstream MOR/AOR pop stations with more recent stuff (and current pop stars are simply aping much of what is going on the EDM scene but with even worse bad behaviour) and plenty of specialist shows for younger people but not as much for this generation (and they are the ones what still have the money if you do want to get sponsors/ads etc)

Those folk chaps seem like worth a listen and airing, my mum and aunts are great folk fans and would listen to this sort of show..
