Broadcasting another station

Hello,

I have a radio show 3 hours a day but I have no time for more live broadcast. I like a station that plays my favorite music genre 24 hours a day and I have thought of broadcasting this station while I don't play my show. Does anyone know how to do it, how to broadcast the signal of this radio via my streaming server and port?

What broadcaster are you using?

First let me ask this question... does this other station know you intend to rebroadcast their stream? If not and if you don't have their permission then stop here.

If you have permission and are using SAM broadcaster (Sorry, I don't know about others) you can actually load a URL to the queue. Id recommend loading it several times (maybe as many as 10 times) because if it hiccups (and it will) the rebroadcast will be dropped and you will have nothing but dead air.
 
Of course that station knows I want to play its broadcast. I use Sam Broadcaster. Which URL you say I have to load to the queue? Mainly I wish to broadcast that station with the computer off if possible. If I had the computer on, I would prepare my playlist for the whole day but I mean with the computer offline. Do you know if I can play that station with my computer off?
 
you just use their listen url, With shouldcast its using their shoutcast server IP and port

Additionally I don't know if centovacast is capable of rebroadcasting another stream but I would suspect its not and you would need to leave a PC on running SAM broadcaster.

Wouldn't your stream settings need to be the same at the other stations? same bit rate and kHz... because if they don't match then anyone listening would instantly buffer and require a player reset because the audio would be distorted. You have to keep those 2 settings the same as the station you are relaying and make your encoder in SAM match those settings as well.

To transcode the bit rate would need to be higher than the bit rate you broadcast as so you could cycle it down to match your settings. Again, not sure if centovacast is capable of that kind of a transcode.
 
Thank you for the information. I see there is no way to broadcast with the computer off... And I suspect with Centovacast happens the same... I will try.

If you using a stream provider to host the station (relay), then you do not need any computer left switched on 24/7 to use Centovacast. The radio server itself can run this relay 24/7. It's very simple to set up.
 
Can you explain a little more how to do it, please? You know, broadcasting a different station via my radio server and port with the computer switched off. I mean, when I finish broadcasting a program, then closing the SAM broadcaster and the computer. Is Centovacast indispensable for this task?.
 
You wont need Sam or your PC to relay another stations stream. If you are using a radio server with the Centovacast control panel, all you would need to do is enter the other stations hostname address and port number into the control panels "Relaying" settings and this will do all of the work.

You would have to enter the other server details though each time into the "Relaying" settings after you have finished doing your own show. But with auto complete in your browser this shouldn't take anymore than a few seconds each time and then a quick server restart to load the configured relay stream. You would also need to remove this information each time before performing your own broadcast.

What you explain is only possible to do it with Centova cast? No possible with sam or Winamp? Sam has a panel named statistics relay but sure it does not refers to this question. But with Sam if I load the server and port adress to the queue, that works while the computer is on, doesn't that?

Yes, this is just a solution to free up your computer from running this. If you use Sam instead then you have no choice but to use your PC unless you had a spare PC kicking around to use instead.
 
Thank you for your help. I found that Centova is very difficult to install on my computer for now, I am planning to allow the radio station to broadcast via my radio channel by giving them my ip and port, such as another radio producer tells in this forum. So I would not need to have my computer online all day. For now that is the most plausible. Greetings.
 
Finally I got Centova Cast, but when I start the server it seems that it goes offline automatically, or when I log out. Some messages in the control panel says it is offline. What to do in order to avoid the server to go offline and continue online broadcasting when I log out? Thanks.
 
Centova Cast should not stop the server everytime you log out.

Who are you using for your stream provider or is this on your own server set up?
 
What happened is that the company that offers me Centova only allows me to relay a bit rate of 96 Kpbs instead of one of 128 kbps, which belongs to the station I want to relay. Impossible to change the bit rate of a streaming server of that station, isn't it?
 
And can I schedule a playlist while the radio broadcasts a relay? I suppose I can enable the AutoDJ status in the Settings and then prepare the playlist but then selecting "NO" in the Use AutoDJ settings in the Mount Points link, isn't it?

Yes, you cannot change this and it would need to be the exact same bitrate.

No, the relay overrides any playlists and attempts to connect a live stream. You would need to manually remove the relay settings and restart the server before being able to connect either a live source or an automated playlist.
 
Thank you. I tested a Radionomy stream url in order to relay it but impossible. Do you know how to do it of if it is possible?
