Hi Wattsie,

We have a beginners guide which explains how this all works which you may find helpful: http://www.internet-radio.com/community/threads/a-beginners-guide-to-internet-radio.12168/

Firstly, your DJ will need some stream encoding software installed on their PC which basically encodes the stream and sends this to your radio server and then out to your listeners. There are many different options for live encoding software, so it depends really on your DJ's own set up and how they wish to stream live. We have several guides for setting up the most common and popular stream encoding software here: http://www.internet-radio.com/community/forums/encoder-guides.23/

Some encoders are an in all one package as you can DJ with them and also stream live with them at the same time such as with "Virtual DJ" for example. Whilst others, such as the "BUTT Encoder" for example, are just for purely encoding the stream if your DJ has a hardware DJ set up or perhaps their own favoured DJ software instead.

In order for your DJ to stream live you are going to need to give them your servers details such as your server accounts username, hostname, port number and source password for their encoders settings. These details can be found in your 'welcome' email as well as in your servers control panel under the 'Quick Links' section.

You have an 'Administrator' password and a 'Source' password. The 'Administrator' password is for logging into the control panel and admin areas of your server. The 'Source' password is for your DJ's to use purely to broadcast to the server (along with the hostname / port). You can change the 'Administrator' / 'Source' passwords from the 'Configuration' > 'Settings' > 'Stream' area of your control panel. Make your 'Source' password different from your 'Administrator' password and give the 'Source' password to your DJ's. You can then change your 'Source' password to block out your DJ's if need be at a later date.

You can also create DJ accounts in your servers control panel with which you can assign limited access to the control panel and its settings for each of your DJ's. Please see the following guide for setting this up: http://www.internet-radio.com/commu...ystem-in-centova-cast-v3-control-panel.15034/

We hope this helps.
