We have recently moved from shoutcast to icecast as we need the benefit of the autodj function if our encoder drops our live 24/7 stream to the host server (internet-radio).. However, despite best efforts we have failed to find a player that can cope with icecast stream when it changes from autodj to live output (and visa versa). At the point of change we need to refresh the player and the output becomes stable and it continues that way.
We have l;ooked at our LAME encoding in mp3 and autodj setup and all is correct - to prove that we can listen to the change over via a server end player and it's a smooth. The problem therefore is with our player (having analysed each track loaded onto auto dj and the stream encoder settings with I R). We are using the FFMp3 flash mp3 player as recommended and it is great apart from when auto dj kicks in.
Have you found a player that handles icecast across all platforms and works? Maybe you can see an obvious area which we have missed. The main player discussed on these forums is now not available Draft Light (Minicaster). They appear to have withdrawn this wef feb 12! So all we need is an icecast player (basic) that can handle the switch from autojj to live and will play 24/7 across all platforms without the additional need of having to go through a list of different types of players etc.Would be greatful please for any solutions..............THANKS from Able Radio, run by and for disabled people.
